My 30 years experience as a photographer began in the photo lab with the US Navy, learning my trade during the film, enlarger, and wet process days. I spent a lot of time honing the technical aspects of both camera work as well as film developing.

Not satisfied with being a great technician, I began the important work of learning composition and vision. No amount of technical greatness can make up for a poorly composed shot or lack of imagination.

With the advent of digital photography, I added more technical aspects to my repertoire, learning not only the amazing capabilities of the digital medium, but the endless array of artistry that can be added in the digital editing process.

I live and work in the Charlottesville, Virginia area, where I find endless inspiration in the beautiful natural surroundings and the history that abounds in the area.
